Doug Wrenn Notes: Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year 2001-02 The Skinny: Wrenn is a very athletic wing who has always had talent, but got into his share of trouble in high school and at Connecticut before returning home. He is very good in transition and going to the basket, with a decent jump shot and an ability to score on the move. His jump shot needs to improve both in range and consistency, and it didn’t get the improvement during his junior season he needed. It has been said that Wrenn’s game, which is one that can flourish in an up-tempo setting, is more suited for the NBA, but at 6’6″ he might be a little small for the small forward spot, and he doesn’t shoot well enough to play shooting guard and isn’t quick enough. His checkered past off the court doesn’t help him either. Wrenn will be lucky to get drafted, and will likely be in someone’s summer league camp. The thinking is that he will be in a developmental league before he ever dons an NBA uniform, if he ever does. Related Hoopville Articles on Doug Wrenn: |
