Austin has flirted with entering the draft seemingly every year out of high
school, but this year he’s definitely in (he’s signed with an agent). He had
an excellent junior year, which helped finalize the decision. Austin is a bit
of a tweener. He has a great back to the basket game, but his size is less
than ideal for an NBA power forward. He is credible facing the basket, but it
is clearly not a strength. He could have addressed some of these questions by
playing in Chicago, but he declined the invite.
While there isn’t much buzz with Austin entering the draft, he is a quality
player who should be able to make someone’s roster. He projects as a second
round selection, probably early on.
