The Skinny:
A good passer and arguably the best perimeter shooting big man in the draft, Tamir shot over 36 percent from long range for his career at Cal. His sweet stroke is apparent at the free throw line as well, where he drained 82.6 percent of his attempts as a senior. A closer look at his free throw numbers, however, reveals one of the knocks on the Jerusalem native: he’s not aggressive enough in the paint. Averaging four minutes less per game as a senior-partly due to the arrival of freshman Leon Powe–Tamir got to the line just 46 times, compared to 120 times as a junior. His rebounding average (5.3 per game)–sub-par for a prospect of his size–and scoring average (12.9) were down from 6.5 and 14.9, respectively, one year ago. If his rebounding and footwork inside improve, the potential second-round pick could make some team very happy as a valuable PF/C with the ability to shoot the outside shot.
