The Skinny:
An excellent rebounder, whose scoring numbers increased each of his four years at Gonzaga. The All West Coast Conference selection does most of his damage inside, as he converted on a WCC-best 55 percent of his shots, but keeps defenses honest with ability to spot up for the occasional long ball. Combination of size and agility made him nearly unstoppable when he got the ball on the low block in WCC play. Footwork needs to improve for him to have the same success at the next level. Free throw shooting improved dramatically from 57 percent as a junior to 74 percent as a senior, which is a positive sign because he draws a lot of contact inside. Played well at the Portsmouth Invitational, averaging 11.7 points and nine rebounds per game, including a 23-point, 10-rebound performance. Violette could sneak into the late second round, although most experts would consider that a huge surprise.
