Team: UCLA Position: Junior Year: Forward Size: 6’7″, 205 Stats (per game): 14.4 points / 4.3 rebounds / 2.2 assists Notes: Withdrew from the NBA Draft. Will return to UCLA for his senior season. The Skinny: A fluid, offensive-minded player, Thompson improved his outside shot as a junior, converting 38.3 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc. While he played point guard at times during his freshman and sophomore seasons, he’s not a great ball handler and tends to execute best out of half-court sets. He is a good rebounder for a guard of his size, but is an average defender at best. He reportedly had words with Bruins head coach Ben Howland prior to the season about playing defense, which suggests a potential attitude problem. Doesn’t show a lot of passion on the court. There’s no part of Thompson’s game that is extraordinary, but he does enough things well to make him an intriguing possible second round pick on Thursday. Many project he will be converted back to a point guard at the next level, wherever that may be. Related Hoopville Articles on Dijon Thompson: |
