New Hampshire: Rowe Makes Pre-emptive Resignation

Rowe Makes Pre-emptive Resignation: Perhaps sensing that his time was nearly up, New Hampshire coach Phil Rowe resigned, ending a lackluster run as the Wildcats’ coach. Rowe compiled a 45-125 record in six seasons. The best record during that time was an 11-17 finish in 2002. Marty Scarano, New Hampshire’s athletic director, said Rowe did not initiate progress he expected for the program. Though Scarano added that Rowe’s predecessors had not enjoyed much more success in comparison. This job definitely is an opportunity for a coach to instigate an extreme makeover. [5/6/05]
