Spartans Nab NBA Assistant: Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo announced the hiring of former NBA assistant coach Jim Boylen as an assistant on his Spartan coaching staff. Boylen, a Grand Rapids, Michigan, native and MSU assistant from 1987-1992, brings 13 years of NBA experience to the Breslin Center. He served 11 years as an assistant to Rudy Tomjanovich at Houston, and one-year stints at Golden State, and Milwaukee last season. His hiring fills the vacancy left by the departure of Doug Wojcik, who left for the head coaching job at Tulsa. [5/30/05]
