Houston Is a Site for Sore Eyes: Houston junior guard Lanny Smith will likely miss the Cougars’ game against Sam Houston State Saturday after a teammate poked him in the eye during practice. Smith is one of the most effective point guards so far this season, averaging 8.8 assists per game while running the Cougars offense that has pulled off upsets against LSU and Arizona. Doctors will re-evaluate Smith after the swelling abates.
