Morris Won’t Be Back This Season: The NCAA ended the Randolph Morris drama by declaring the Kentucky Wildcat ineligible for the rest of the season. The sophomore center entered the NBA Draft after last season but wasn’t drafted despite a loose affiliation with SFX, a sports agency. He tried to return to Kentucky, but the NCAA questioned his involvement with SFX and the source of his expenses while working out with NBA teams. But the NCAA decided that Morris had gone too far, so he cannot play again this season.
The NCAA also said that Morris will lose a year of eligibility, so he will lose his entire sophomore season. Morris must also repay $7,000 in expenses. Because Morris went through the NBA Draft already, the NBA considers him to be a free agent, meaning any team can sign him. In theory, if Morris’ game takes off next season, an NBA team could sign him mid-season.
Without Morris, the Wildcats are thin and inexperience in the frontcourt. Kentucky’s leading rebounder is sophomore point guard Rajon Rondo, he who stands at 6-1. That’s nearly double any other Wildcat. If your point guard is your leading rebounder and is 6-1, you’re either playing in middle school or in big trouble for the long haul.
