Princeton Takes Slow Offense to Record-setting Low: The Princeton offense is a well-documented style of play in which teams run deliberate sets to find open cuts to the basket or long-range shots. But Princeton took the offensively limiting strategy to a new low last night, scoring only 21 in a mind-numbingly dull 41-21 loss against Monmouth. The 62 combined points marks the lowest output by two teams since the NCAA added the 3-point line in 1986. Princeton’s 21 points ties the worst production by any single team since 1986. Of the 22 teams in action last night, 15 scored at least 62 points on their own. Yuck. [12/15/05]
