King Aztec Hobbled: San Diego State junior forward Marcus Slaughter will miss two to four weeks because he sprained his left knee during the Aztecs’ 66-54 win against UC-Barbara. Slaughter is by far the best player on the Aztecs’ roster, averaging 17.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. He’s one of only two San Diego State players to average double figures in scoring, so without Slaughter, the Aztecs need someone else to step up. The Aztecs better hope Slaughter recovers quickly because San Diego State plays important conference games against Colorado State, Air Force and Utah in early January. [12/20/05]
