Lobos Need a Chemistry Course: A few weeks after quitting the team, junior forward Joel Box is back on the team. But his role is unclear, as is his welcome among teammates. Box quit the team after expressing frustration with playing time. He has played in 11 games and averages about 9.9 minutes per game. During the sparse playing time, Box puts up 3.6 points and two rebounds per game.
Despite his production on a team that averages only 68 points per game, several Lobos were not sad to see him go. Some players said the team was closer knit without Box and fellow JuCo transfer Anthony Teague, who also quit the team last month. Coach Ritchie McKay and Box traded barbs through the media. Box needs to come back and be happy with whatever minutes he plays. Usually the best way to work through crises like these is to simply produce and focus on winning as a team. Nothing smooths personal feuds quite like success. [1/06/06]
