Cardinal Can’t Buy a Break: Stanford junior forward Fred Washington is done for the season after announcing that he will have knee surgery to repair a torn patella tendon. Washington missed the Cardinal’s past five games after team doctors diagnosed him with tendinitis. The injury is more serious, however, so Washington must miss the rest of the season to properly heal after his surgery. Because he played only eight games this season, Stanford could petition the NCAA to grant Washington a medical redshirt, which means that this season would not count against his four years of eligibility. Washington averages 3.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. [1/07/06]
