Baylor Is Back in Business: After 307 days since Baylor lost in last season’s Big 12 tournament, the Bears played their first game of the season last night. Not surprisingly, the inexperienced Bears lost at Texas Tech, 79-61. The team demonstrated several major weaknesses, including poor rebounding and court awareness. But considering Baylor endured a ban on non-conference games, coach Scott Drew and the rest of the team were mostly happy to finally play a real game this season. The ban was a product of violations that occurred during the tenure of former coach David Bliss, who tried to cover up the program’s troubles, which became public after the murder of Patrick Dennehy by teammate Carlton Dotson.
