Dotson Denied Appeal: Former Baylor player Carlton Dotson will not have an opportunity to appeal his murder conviction, at least not on the watch of Texas District Judge Ralph Strother. The judge denied Dotson’s request yesterday to appeal the conviction for murdering his former teammate Patrick Dennehy. Dotson had forfeited his appeals rights when he pleased guilty to the murder charge. His lawyer is attempting to appeal the conviction out of due diligence. Dotson can earn parole in 2021. [1/12/06]
