Mono Weakens Husky: Still fresh to Connecticut’s lineup, junior point guard Marcus Williams now has mononucleosis. Despite receiving the diagnosis for the illnesses that produces chronic fatigue — not a good symptom for a basketball player — the Huskies will continue to play Williams until he shows ill effects of the disease. He was originally diagnosed with strep throat when he complained of a sore throat.
Williams missed the first 11 games of the season while on suspension for his role in an incident involving stolen computers. In three games back, Williams is still readjusting to running the point. In his last game, Williams played 28 minutes and scored 11 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished seven assists. [1/13/06]
