Whirlwind Suspension for Jayhawk Guard: Kansas freshman guard Brandon Rush, one of the top freshmen in the country this season, was suspended by the NCAA Thursday for receiving illicit benefits during his flirtation with the NBA Draft last year. The school appealed the suspension, and the NCAA lifted it Friday. A player’s agent had arranged for Rush to try out for an NBA team, unbeknownst to Rush. Because Rush did not actively pursue the agent’s help, the NCAA quickly dismissed the violation. Rush averages 13 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, but his 12 points and five rebounds against Kansas State yesterday wasn’t enough for the Jayhawks to evade a 59-55 upset at home. [1/15/06]
