Badgers Played With Short Bench: Wisconsin dropped its first Big Ten game of the season last night at Ohio State, partially because coach Bo Ryan didn’t have his full complement of Badgers to throw at the Buckeyes. Sophomore center Greg Stiemsma missed the game because of medical issues. He has had a battery of medical evaluations this past week, but there’s no word out of Wisconsin about the cause for the tests. Freshman forward Marcus Landry also missed the game because of academic issues. Stiemsma leads the team in blocks while Landry is an effective scorer with six points per game off the bench. In addition to those two, sophomore forward Brian Butch went down with an ankle injury in the first half. After evaluations, he came back in during the second half. [1/19/06]
