McCray’s Career at Maryland Ends: Maryland senior guard Chris McCray won’t suit up again for the Terrapins because he is academically ineligible for the second semester. McCray apparently didn’t complete at least six credit hours last semester, which is one of the NCAA’s new standards for all student-athletes. The rules are in place to ensure that all athletes focus on working toward graduating rather than merely playing sports. McCray, a criminal justice major, said he is upset that he won’t be able to finish his career with his teammates, but he plans to complete his degree. McCray was a critical member of Maryland’s lineup, averaging 15.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game. [1/23/06]
