Hoosier Malaise: Indiana coach Mike Davis missed the team’s game at home vs. Iowa Saturday because he had the flu. The symptoms were debilitating, and the team’s physicians advised him to stay at home to rest. Indiana lost to Iowa at home and slipped a couple of games behind the Hawkeyes in the Big Ten standings.
Despite the solid season and a likely NCAA Tournament appearance, Davis said, detractors are gathering in Bloomington. The coach said the team is starting to notice the negativity and play with less energy. Some fans are openly calling for Davis’ removal. Davis will likely recover from the flu to coach the team’s next game at Penn State. But shaking the fans’ funk may be more difficult. The best remedy for fan irritation is a long winning streak.
