Unhappy Hoosiers Talk Transfer: Almost immediately after Indiana coach Mike Davis announced his resignation, effective at the end of the season, the attention turned to the players. And they didn’t shy away from sharing their opinions. Sophomore stars D.J. White and Robert Vaden openly vented their frustration about Davis’ resignation, saying that they felt the school forced him out. They both said they would seriously consider transferring after the season. White and Vaden indicated that they would like to transfer to wherever Davis coaches next. Fellow sophomore A.J. Ratliff, a promising guard, also indicated he is unhappy with the Hoosiers.
Despite the talk of doom and gloom in Bloomington, sophomore Adam Ahlfeld said his teammates’ angst is largely the product of intense emotions following the whirlwind week of rumors and speculation. Once the dust settles, Ahlfeld said, he thinks everyone will likely remain at Indiana. Even if White, Vaden and Ratliff opt to leave, there’s no guarantee Davis will be coaching right away. And all three would have to sit out a year according to NCAA rules for transfers, which might not jibe with White’s plans to play in the NBA sooner or later. [2/17/06]
