Red Storm Meets With NCAA: St. John’s officials met with the NCAA’s infractions committee Friday for a hearing about violations that occurred under former coach Mike Jarvis. A former assistant coach gave former Red Storm player Abe Keita $300 per month, which violates the NCAA’s rules against players receiving extra benefits. Following a school-sponsored investigation, St. John’s imposed a post-season ban for the 2004-05 season and penalized the team one scholarship for last season and this season. The Red Storm now hopes that the NCAA’s infractions committee will not levy additional punishment on the program. [2/20/06]
