Cardinals Continue to Crash and Burn: A disappointing season turned more devastating for Louisville as sophomore center David Padgett reinjured his knee in practice yesterday and will require season-ending surgery. Tests indicated that Padgett significantly damaged the knee and needs to have arthroscopic surgery to repair it. Padgett has been the Cardinals’ steadiest post presence, averaging 11.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Without Padgett, Louisville’s fading NCAA Tournament hopes are likely also done for the season. [2/21/06]
