Horizon League Tournament: No. 5 Detroit sprinted to a 13-0 lead en route to slamming No. 8 Cleveland State 92-58 in Detroit. Five players reached double figures for the Titans, who were led by senior guard Ben Green’s 15 points. The Titans play No. 3 Loyola – Chicago Friday.
Loyola – Chicago advanced to the quarterfinals by virtue of the Ramblers’ 76-61 victory against No. 9 Youngstown State, the team’s second win against the Penguins in four days.
No. 6 Illinois – Chicago survived a furious second-half comeback by No. 7 Wright State to win 77-64 and move on to play No. 3 Wisconsin – Green Bay in the quarterfinals Friday. Illinois – Chicago led by as much as 20 in the first half before Wright State rallied. Senior guard Rocky Collum led the Flames with 21 points off the bench, and the team hit 28-of-29 free-throw attempts to stifle the Raiders.
