America East Conference Tournament: After falling behind by 15 in the first half, No. 6 Vermont rallied and pulled off the upset of No. 2 Binghamton 66-59 in the America East Conference Tournament semifinals. The Catamounts advance to play No. 1 Albany in the championship Saturday. Sophomore guard Kyle Cieplicki led Vermont with 17 points in the upset of Binghamton, which is hosting the America East Conference Tournament.
Albany handled No. 5 New Hampshire in the other semifinal game, 67-54. The Great Danes only had one player reach double figures in scoring, sophomore forward Brent Wilson, who had 16 points. But Albany held the Wildcats to 35 percent shooting from the field, so the Great Danes didn’t need much offense to advance to championship game. [3/05/06]
