Western Athletic Conference Tournament: No. 1 Nevada took another step toward winning the Western Athletic Conference championship by beating No. 4 New Mexico State 70-59. With the Aggies blanketing Nick Fazekas, Marcelus Kemp got plenty of free looks to drain four three-pointers en route to 25 points. The Wolf Pack will play No. 2 Utah State in the championship game Saturday.
Utah State slipped past No. 3 Louisiana Tech 68-64 to keep its NCAA Tournament hopes alive and setup a championship game vs. Nevada. Jaycee Carroll led the Aggies with 18 points. Utah State was successful from the free-throw line in the final minute to defuse the Bulldogs’ upset bid. [3/10/06]
