Tubbs Retires From Coaching for Good This Time: When Billy Tubbs announced he would retire in 2002 after coaching TCU for eight seasons, his alma mater called to tempt Tubbs with one final gig. Now, after coaching Lamar for three seasons, Tubbs is stepping down to focus on duties as the school’s athletic director. The Cardinals finished 17-14 this season and were 46-43 in Tubbs’ three years at the helm. For his career, Tubbs has compiled a 641-340 record while coaching Oklahoma, Tulsa, TCU and two stints at Lamar. [3/21/06]
