Tigers Bring ’40 Minutes’ to Columbia: Missouri officials have hired Alabama – Birmingham coach Mike Anderson to replace Quin Snyder, who resigned in February after two years of speculation about his job security. Anderson brings a unique playing style to Columbia as a disciple of former Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson, who popularized the “40 minutes of hell.” Anderson preaches the doctrine, which relies on intense full-court pressure to force turnovers and generate fast-break opportunities. Because the style is exhausting, he rotates many players into the game, hoping to wear down the opponent. In four years with the Blazers, Anderson led the school to an 89-41 record and three trips to the NCAA Tournament, including this season when the team lost to No. 8 Kentucky in the first round.
