Waters Moves Back to the Midwest: Former Rutgers and Kent State coach Gary Waters will likely become the new coach of the Cleveland State Vikings. The deal is not final, but the school is completing contract negotiations with Waters and expects to announce his hire today. Waters coached Rutgers for the past five seasons after leading the Kent State Golden Flashes for five seasons before that. While at Kent State, Waters made the Golden Flashes a perennial mid-major powerhouse with a 92-60 record. Cleveland State is mired in mediocrity with only one winning season this decade and no NCAA Tournament appearances since 1986. [4/06/06]
