Big 12 Chooses Kansas City: The Big 12 Conference Tournament will return to Kansas City for the next two seasons. The city hopes to lure the conference to return in future years with the new Sprint Center, which will open in late 2007. The conference has a TV contract with ABC/ESPN through 2008 and will consider its options when negotiating a new contract. Those options may include picking another site for the tournament for an extended period of time. Kansas City hopes the new Sprint Center will help convince the conference to make it the Big 12’s home.
