Restocking the Herd: Although Marshall will lose two players who averaged nearly 15 points per game last season, the belated arrival of Darryl Merthie will soften the blow. Coach Ron Jirsa recruited Merthie to join the Thundering Herd last season, but the Florida standout was academically ineligible. He’s good to go now, and Jirsa wants him to play ball all summer to refine his game. JuCo transfer Chris Williams and incoming freshman Tyler Wilkerson also figure to play important roles for the Herd next season, and their preparation will begin this summer as Marshall opens its summer sessions.
