Iowa: Jones Now the Sioux Head Coach

Hawkeye Assistant to Head Sioux: Iowa assistant coach Brian Jones has been named the new head coach of D-II North Dakota. This is the first head coaching assignment for Jones, an assistant coach at the University of Iowa the past seven seasons. Jones replaces Rich Glas, who resigned after 18 seasons to become the associate head coach at Northern Iowa. Jones, 35, started as a high school coach, and later was an assistant at Nebraska-Omaha, followed by Steve Alford’s staff at Missouri State. The Fighting Sioux finished 13-15 last season. [6/09/06]
