Manhattan Finds Well-Connected New Yorkers: Manhattan coach Barry Rohrssen has added two more assistants with strong New York ties. Rohrssen announced the hirings of Edgar De La Rose and John Alesi, who come to Manhattan after serving on Big East coaching staffs last season. De La Rosa most recently served as the director of basketball operations at Rutgers. Before his stint at Rutgers, De La Rosa got Division I coaching experience as an assistant at Fordham and Stony Brook. Alesi spent last season working with Rohrssen at Pittsburgh. Alesi, a New York native, served as Pitt’s basketball video coordinator. Before working at Pittsburgh, Alesi served as an assistant at Baruch College, N.Y., during the 2004-05 campaign and a graduate assistant coach at Hofstra in 2003-04.
