St. Joe’s Hires Former La Salle Star: Former La Salle standout Doug Overton has joined the staff of Saint Joseph’s coach Phil Martelli. Overton replace Monte Ross, who left after 10 years with the Hawks to become head coach at Delaware. Overton spent the past season as the director of player development for the Philadelphia 76ers. Overton led the Explorers to three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, averaging a team-high 22.3 points per game during his senior season in 1991. He is the Explores’ career leader in assists (671) and steals (277) and had an 11-year career in the NBA.
