Hall of Fame Cancels Tip-Off Classic: The Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass., will no longer host its Tip-Off Classic, which has been a staple of Thanksgiving weekend for the past 27 years. The Hall of Fame had sponsored the game, which usually marked the start of the regular season. But financial struggles and recent changes to the schedule that moves the start of the regular season earlier in November have made the game less meaningful and not profitable. As a result, the Hall of Fame has opted to cancel the game in favor of a celebration scheduled for Nov. 18 featuring youth clinics, contests and celebrity appearances. [7/06/06]
