Afflalo Must Sit ’til September: UCLA guard Arron Afflalo, a rising junior who flirted with the NBA Draft, will not be able to play basketball for six to eight weeks because of a stress fracture in his left foot. Afflalo declared for the draft after his sophomore season, but he did not hire an agent and opted to return to the Bruins after scouts made it clear that he was not a first-round draft pick. Afflalo helped lead UCLA to the national championship last season and promises to be one of the critical players on a team that loses three starters. He should be ready well before the team opens official practices in October. [7/20/06]
