Nebraska: Huskers’ Collier Returns to Butler Home

Huskers’ Collier Returns to Butler Home: Nebraska coach Barry Collier has left the school to become athletic director at Butler, his alma mater. In six seasons with the Cornhuskers, Collier led the team to an 89-91 record. He had much more success at Butler as a coach because he went 196-132 in 11 seasons. His 1999-2000 Bulldog team nearly beat Florida, before losing on a buzzer-beater. The Gators advanced to the national championship game that season, losing to Michigan State. Meanwhile, Nebraska is openly courting Creighton’s Dana Altman, who has made the Blue Jays the pre-eminent basketball program in the state of Nebraska, much to the chagrin of Cornhusker fans and alumni.
