Nevada: Fox Earns Reward for Remaining in Reno

Fox Earns Reward for Remaining in Reno: Nebraska courted Nevada coach Mark Fox, but the two-year Wolf Pack leader decided to remain in Reno. By declining the offer, Fox turned down a higher salary and more high-profile exposure at a Big 12 school. Nevada officials recognized Fox’s loyalty by agreeing to start the process of giving Fox a $100,000 raise. He recently signed a five-year contract that would pay him $400,000 this season and raise his salary $25,000 each subsequent season. The raise would bump that starting salary to $500,000. In two seasons in Reno, Fox has led the Wolf Pack to a 52-13 record and two NCAA Tournament appearances. The team returns four starters, including Nick Fazekas, the WAC’s best player, so expectations are high this coming season. [8/15/06]
