Niagara: Niagara Players Face Punishment for Assault on Baseball Player

Niagara Players Face Punishment for Assault on Baseball Player: Five Niagara basketball players will face punishment from the school’s athletic department after they allegedly attacked a university baseball player last month. Javonte Clanton, Charron Fisher, Kamau Gordon, Stanley Hodge and Lorenzo Miles are all charged for the alleged assault on Purple Eagles pitcher Jeffrey St. Denis near a Niagara Falls bar in the early morning hours of Aug. 31. The school will punish the players regardless of whether they are convicted of assault, which their trials will determine in the next month. According to Athletic Director Ed McLaughlin, the severity of the punishment will be determined once the trials are over. [9/27/06]
