Joyce Center Gets $24.7 Million Facelift: Notre Dame’s basketball arena will experience a multimillion dollar renovation soon, due in large part to a $12.5 million donation from alumnus and former Morgan Stanley CEO Phillip Purcell. The project will include replacing the 5,763 bleacher seats with chairs, building a two-story entrance that will have an expanded retail store, adding new ticket offices and constructing a 16,500-foot hospitality area that will include premium club seating. Purcell, who attended Notre Dame in the early 1960s, said his days at the school were among the best of his life, and sports were an integral part of that. [10/06/06]
