Southern Illinois: Southern Illinois Suspends Three Players

Southern Illinois Suspends Three Players: Jamaal Tatum, the leading scorer from Southern Illinois’ NCAA Tournament team last season, will serve a three-game suspension this season for violating team rules, the school announced Oct. 10. Although a statement released by the university does not specify the rule that Tatum broke, it states that campus police cited the player for drunk driving last March. Also, reserve forwards Tony Boyle and Jamaal Foster will serve one-game suspensions for violating team rules during unrelated incidents. The loss of Tatum will undoubtedly be a big loss for the Salukis. Last season, Tatum led the team averaging 15 points per game, in addition to 3.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds per contest. [10/11/06]
