Purple Eagles Tell Prosecutor Thanks, But No Thanks: Niagara players Charron Fisher and Stanley Hodge rejected plea deals Oct. 16 in a case in which they are accused of assaulting a Niagara baseball player. “We were not willing to accept the deal; it’s a criminal conviction,” said Robert Viola, Fisher’s attorney. Fisher rejected a plea on a misdemeanor charge of attempted assault, while Hodge rejected a plea to a reduced charge of harassment.
Both face charges of misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct after an incident outside a Niagara Falls bar Aug. 31. They are accused of attacking Jeffrey St. Denis. Denis suffered a concussion and bruised ribs, among other injuries. Three other Niagara players were accused of taking part in the attack: Kamau Gordon and Javonte Clanton were sentenced to 30 hours of community service, and Lorenzo Miles had his charge of disorderly conduct dropped.
