Self Tires of Giles’ Antics: Kansas coach Bill Self has dismissed junior forward C.J. Giles for violating the team’s behavior codes. Police gave Giles a ticket for misdemeanor battery following a run-in with an ex-girlfriend, who Giles said refused to leave his apartment. Self condemned Giles’ behavior. He had already suspended Giles for the first semester because of other off-court issues. The recent incident was the last straw for Self, who seeks to uphold a high standard among his players. With Giles gone, Self must find someone to hold down the fort in the paint because center Sasha Kaun will miss the first few weeks of the season with a knee injury. Giles averaged 6.2 points and 4.8 rebounds, and he was a solid defender. [11/08/06]
