George Mason AD to Chair NCAA Tournament Committee: The NCAA selected George Mason athletic director Tom O’Connor to lead the NCAA Tournament committee for this season, making him a leader of the board that put his Patriots in last season’s tournament. George Mason proceeded to make a surprising run at the Final Four. O’Connor is currently in the third of his five-year term on the committee that organizes the NCAA tournament. He awaits approval on his selection from the Division I championships/competition cabinet in February. O’Connor, in his 12th year at George Mason, would succeed current chairman Gary Walter, Princeton’s athletic director. [11/24/06]
