Gardner Follows Coach to Wright State: Former UNC – Wilmington player John David Gardner will transfer to Wright State and play for the Raiders, Wright State coach Brad Brownell announced. Brownell coached Gardner last season with the Seahawks before leaving to take the Wright State job last spring. Gardner, sidelined much of last season with the Seahawks, averaged 19.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists during his senior year at Homewood High School in Alabama. He’s a 6-4 point guard with three more seasons of eligibility remaining. Brownell has already signed four recruits for next season, including 6-9 Duquesne transfer Ronnie Thomas. [1/04/07]
