Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Opening Round: In one of the highest scoring games in tournament history, No. 9 Drake held off No. 8 Evansville for a 101-96 overtime win. Five players scored in double figures for the Bulldogs (17-14), led by 23 points from freshman Josh Young and 18 from Klayton Korver. Senior Matt Webster closed out his career with 29 points for the Purple Aces (14-17) and Jason Holsinger added 26.
In the nightcap, No. 10 Indiana State lived another day, using a 10-1 run late in the second half to take the lead against No. 7 Illinois State. Then a three-pointer by freshman Marico Stinson with 16 seconds left gave them the lead for good in a 68-65 win over the Redbirds. The Sycamores (13-17) shot over 52 percent in the second half, including 7-10 from three-point land. Jay Tunnell led Indiana State with 16 points and seven rebounds.
