Southern Conference Tournament Championship: No. 1 Davidson won’t be sweating Selection Sunday after the Wildcats earned the Southern Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 72-65 win against No. 3 College of Charleston. The Wildcats won what was essentially a road game against the Cougars in North Charleston. Despite the hostile crowd and 37.3 percent shooting, Davidson won with solid defense that forced 20 turnovers. Freshman guard Stephen Curry guided the Wildcats to victory with 29 points. The son of prolific shooter Dell Curry delivered 10 field goals, including four three-pointers. [3/03/07]
