Big Sky Conference Tournament Semifinals: No. 2 Northern Arizona avenged last season’s Big Sky championship loss to No. 3 Montana, beating the Grizzlies 78-71. The Lumberjacks built a 20-point first-half lead, then watched Montana chip away at it until the Grizzlies built a four-point lead in the second half. But Northern Arizona overcame the poor shooting to grind out the victory, led by Tyrone Bazy, who scored 20 points. The Lumberjacks will play No. 1 Weber State for the Big Sky championship. The Wildcats survived against No. 4 Portland State 77-74, using a 13-2 run to spark a second-half rally. Dezmon Harris led Weber State with 15 points. Portland State had an opportunity to tie the game after Weber State hit two free throws with about four seconds remaining. But the Vikings failed to get a shot off before the buzzer sounded. [3/06/07]
