Mid-Continent Conference Championship: Oral Roberts will make its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance after pulling out a 71-67 win over No. 2 Oakland in the Mid-Continent Championship game. With the game tied at 67, Ken Tutt scored the two biggest of his 20 points on a jumper with 33 seconds left to put the Golden Eagles (23-10) ahead, then two free throws with 11 seconds left iced it. The first half was a great back-and-forth between Oral Roberts forward Caleb Green (18 of his game-high 28 points) and Oakland wing Erik Kangas (all 20 of his points on 6-8 shooting from long range), especially on the perimeter, with Oakland leading by 11 at halftime. The Golden Eagles started the second half on a 9-2 run to get back in the game, eventually taking the lead before Oakland would at one point go up by five with over 11 minutes left. Green, who became the Mid-Continent’s all-time leading scorer in the game, was the tournament MVP. Vova Severovas led Oakland (19-14) with 22 points and seven rebounds. [3/06/07]
