Big Sky: Big Sky Conference Tournament Championship

Championship Week 2006
Big Sky Conference Tournament Championship: A year after missing the Big Sky Conference tournament for the first time since 1981, No. 1 Weber State got back to the top. The Wildcats knocked off No. 2 Northern Arizona 88-80 to claim the Big Sky tournament championship. The Big Sky Conference’s most valuable player, Weber State’s David Patten, scored a team-high 22 points to lead the Wildcats. Two others scored at least 20 for Weber State, as G.B. Burningham scored 21 points, and Dezmon Harris scored 20. Burningham’s 21 points was by far a season-high. Burningham, a freshman out of Ogden, Utah, was averaging 0.8 points per game. Northern Arizona, which lost in the Big Sky tournament championship game for the second straight season, was led by Steven Sir’s 23 points and Ruben Boykin Jr.’s 22. Weber State led the entire gam. The Lumberjacks whittled a 21-point lead to two points late in the second half. [3/07/07]
